Stop and Look Around

Long time no see

Social Isolation. Corona virus. Covid-19. Economy Crashing. Church Services online. Cases Rising. Deaths rising. When will it end? The world has stopped. The unemployment rate is rising. Social media and streaming service usage gaining. School is online. What is there to do?

I believe that when this is “over,” it will never truly be over. The world will never be the same. Sure, we’ll go back to school and work, but peoples lives will be different. I don’t mean like a slight difference. I mean a major difference. People will appreciate life more. We’ll rejoice with friends and family once again. We might tip our service workers more. We might appreciate the world more.

There are so many good things happening in the world right now. While everything is on hold, air and water pollution has decreased. Wildlife has been able to restore their habitats. People that were once religious, are starting to have a lot more faith and hope. “In the midst of the storm, Christians are intentionally drawing apart to look to the Lord and his promises, finding security and hope in God as our hiding place (Ps 32:7). We finally feel a sense of community with all this grief and loss we feel. Some are even using this opportunity to be more generous by donating to the homeless shelters and nursing homes. Families are coming together once more to watch movies and play board games. They also finally get to sit around the table and share a meal every night. There also hasn’t been a lack of creativity as businesses try to stay open and make the income they need. This also comes down to having more time to read and write, both being super crucial to developing creativity. People are returning to the hobbies they once had such as scrapbooking, baking, playing an instrument, and gardening. While this is all good, the most important thing is being able to relax. Nowadays, we often don’t take time to rest. Being able to rest is important. Lives have been on hold so we can finally get the proper amount of sleep and just put our feet up for a little bit. This benefits everyone immensely. When we go back, the world won’t be the same, it’ll be better. We’ll be refreshed and rejuvenated ready to take on world by storm. God wants us to take this break so he can fix everything. “Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide a little while until the Indignation is over (Isaiah 26:20).

  1. Nice to see on River. Hope you’re doing well. Yes, we do have a mess of things going on, and yes it’s is scary… terrifying. But God will see us through. Take care of yourself. God loves you! ❤
